But will it get past the Apple app police
Hugh Hefner has announced, via Twitter of course, that he is in the process of creating a Playboy app for the iPad that will allow you to view the current and past issues of the magazine.
“Big news! Playboy - both old & new - will be available on iPad beginning in March”, Hefner tweeted out in the early hours of Wednesday morning, before later adding:
“Yes, all the back issues of Playboy will be available on iPad, & current issues as well”, and that, “Playboy on iPad will be uncensored”.
Fans of the magazine will also be pleased to hear that,?“the IPad Version of Playboy will include the whole magazine from the first issue to the latest”.
That's 58 years worth of photographs of nude women - as well as journalism and fiction, of course... Ahem.
How Hefner plans to get all that nudity past the Apple app police hasn’t been made clear though.
Apple has traditionally been very unforgiving of any app that tries to offer any kind of raunchiness within apps, although it does?contradict itself?by letting apps like those from British newspaper The Sun feature page 3 girls, boobs and all.
No word on how much the app will cost, or whether Playboy is hoping the new iPad 2 will have a fold out screen for those centrefold moments, but we would probably advise getting a screen protector.
