UK finally gets QWERTY WP7 phone
First teased in October 2010, HTC has finally confirmed that it is bringing the HTC 7 Pro, its QWERTY keyboard Windows Phone 7 smartphone, to the UK.
“With the fresh and exciting mobile experience of the Windows Phone 7 platform, HTC 7 Pro is for users who want to combine the ultimate in?business efficiency with the ability to take full advantage of their leisure time”, said Jon French, the man in charge of HTC UK, Ireland and South Africa.
For those who’ve forgotten what the HTC 7 Pro is, it’s the company’s QWERTY slider handset with a tilting 3.6-inch screen, 1Ghz processor and, like other HTC handsets in the range, Dolby Mobile and SRS WOW HD.
The new handset, like the HTC 7 Trophy, HTC 7 Mozart,?and HTC HD7, will bring the usual Microsoft excitement of Xbox LIVE, Windows Live, Bing and Zune.
That means you get the incredibly simple (some would say boring) Hub and Tile interface of Windows Phone 7 along with People, Pictures, Games, Music & Video, Office and Marketplace hubs in addition to HTC’s own offering.
The new handset will be available from February. Currently no operators have signed up to carry it, so you'll have to buy it from companies like Clove or Expansys, Both companies are listing the phone for pre-order, although the pricing is vastly different, with Clove listing the HTC 7 Pro at ?442.80 and Expansys listing it at ?459.99. Expansys are currently saying the phone will be available on Vodafone. We are double checking this and will keep you updated.
