Blog Post: FEP now RTM

Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 has now been RTM'd and full details are available via the Microsoft website here.

You will need SCCM to manage it (an optiionally SCOM to get alerts from it via the FEP Security Management Pack).

Some of the top things about it include: -

1. Its easy to deploy as it uses the current SCCM client to push it and the updates out
2. Its easy to manage as it uses the collections you already have in place and many of the options are built into the contect menus
3. Its not just AV - it also handles rootkits, firewall and NIS.
4. It removes the following AV products for you which is great as remvoving AV products can be the biggest challenge ot an AV migration: -

• Symantec Endpoint Protection version 11
• Symantec Corporate Edition version 10
• McAfee VirusScan Enterprise version 8.5 and version 8.7
• Trend Micro OfficeScan version 8.0 and version 10.0
• Forefront Client Security version 1 including the Operations Manager agent
