Oracle gives up on OpenOffice after community forks the project: The OpenOffice.org office suite is rapidly losing mindshare to LibreOffice, a community-driven fork. As OOo's supporters flee, Oracle has finally decided that it's time to hand over control to the community and to stop offering a commercial version of the suite.

Righthaven reeling: secret doc could doom a copyright troll: A newly unsealed document reveals the master agreement behind the Righthaven sue-'em-all copyright litigation factory. Defense lawyers say that Righthaven doesn't actually have the right to sue, and a judge is furious at Righthaven shenanigans.
