Notebook ranges announced in the US
At last, some news emerging out of Sony HQ that doesn't involve a security breach, or an apology from a director.
Nope, this news is all good as Sony has announced the arrival of the new S and F Series Vaio notebooks over in the land of the free (and the home of the brave).
The 13.3-inch (1600x900) S series models are now skinnier, more productive thanks to a huuuuuuge 16 hour battery life (with all the right settings applied and by using the optional $150 sheet battery), and come packing second generation Intel Core i7 processors.
You've also got the choice of a dual channel solid state drive and hybrid graphics (AMD Radeon HD 6630 1GB on select models), Blu-ray / DVD optical drives, and they all boast Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0.
The F series Vaio models maybe more up your street if you're looking for a multimedia machine though.
They pack a 16.4-inch display with Full HD (1920x1080) displays and cinematic sound with S-Force front surround 3D technology and high-quality playback taken care of by the inclusion of Dolby Home Theater.
Like the S series, these are Sandy Bridge i7 machines, and are backed up by Nvidia GeForce GT 540M (1GB) or 520M (512MB) GPUs.
There's up to 750GB of HDD space for your high-def content and quick transfers to your external drives using USB 3.0.
The Sony Vaio F series is available (in silver, matte black or a premium white) to pre-order now in the States starting at $1,100. The S series starts at $999 and can also be pre-ordered now.
