TechFest: The Microsoft Research fair of the future starts today

Good morning from Redmond. I am coming to you from Building 33 on the Microsoft campus at TechFest. The annual multi-day event shows off the most bleeding-edge technology projects coming out of Microsoft Research.

Microsoft spends $9 billion a year on research and development and has about 850 researchers at the company who conduct academic research on the future of technology.

At 9:30 a.m., Rick Rashid, Microsoft senior vice president of research, will deliver a keynote speech.

After that we'll be checking out the various 3-D, social media and interactive displays Microsoft is experimenting with. Come back to the Microsoft Pri0 blog for the latest news and videos of the demos Tuesday.

I will also be tweeting @sharonpianchan which you can check out in the top right corner of the Microsoft Pri0 blog.
