LG Optimus Me: Android on a budget

MWC 2011: LG Pecan becomes LG Optimus Me
LG Optimus Me: Android on a budget

LG?has been all about the big high-end phones of late: the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Black and of course the big daddy of them all, the LG Optimus 3D, but it’s not all top of the range stuff with the company announcing the LG Optimus Me.

Codenamed the LG Pecan, the budget handset will offer something to those looking for Android without spending huge amounts of cash; the handset will sit next to, if not below, the Orange San Francisco for the UK operator.?

Specs are pretty basic. The new phone will come with a 3.15-megapixel camera, 140MB of internal memory, a microSD slot that can take a 32GB card, GPS, Wi-Fi (b/g) , FM radio, HSPDA connectivity and Bluetooth.

You will get a capacitive touch screen with 256K colours and a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, although LG has yet to detail the exact size as yet.

It will run Android 2.2 (Froyo) and most likely be available as a pay-as-you-go handset when it launches on Orange in the coming months.
